An extremely nice Champion & Wilton English side saddle from the 1930's,
one of the great Old Name English side saddles. The saddle is in gorgeous show
condition! Reinforced for jumping!
The saddle comes complete with a C&W breakaway stirrup fitting, stirrup
leather, and stirrup. The billets and seat webbing are sound. The
wide pommels and seat are peach coored doeskin. There are minor holes
in the doeskin at the left rear of the seat and one on the fixed head that do
not affect the integrity of the saddle and will be invisible when mounted.
The saddle has Belgian linen over serge panels with a repair to the linen at
the rear of the nearside panel. There are D rings to attach your sandwich case
and breast collar and a second D ring in the front on the offside to attach
additional hunting equipment (horn, additonal flask, etc). The panels
extend out under the safe to provide padding between your calf and the horse's
The seat measures 22" in length from the front of the upright pommel to
the rear of the seat and measures 13" in width. This
is a wide tree measuring 8" between the breast collar's D
rings, measured to the actual fork and 17" from point to point.
The saddle would be great for a smaller lady or a junior rider. There is very
light wear and is in show condition.
