The Side Saddlery
Robson of York Side Saddle Imported from England
This is a beautiful side saddle built in York, England by Robson. Nicely balanced and reinforced for riding over fences/hunting or on the flat in hunter classes or dressage.
This saddle has outside billets for the modern show rider. It also makes adjusting your girth in the hunt field VERY convenient!
This saddle was built for use in India when it was still part of the British Colonies. The saddle's seat is raised on wooden spacers allowing for ventilation to cool the horse's back and to keep the panels drier. Notice the ventialtion holes under the seat? The wooden spacers were viewed when we dropped the panels for work - they are in excellent condition.
The seat measures 22" from the front of the top pommel to the cantle and 13.25" wide. It is a wide saddle measuring 8" between the D rings for the breast collar and 17.5" between the points, all measured to the actual tree.
The saddle has all new billets and new serge on non-weight bearing surfaces. The original linen is in good condition and was retained.
The saddle has a pigskin seat with brown doeskin pommels. D rings are present for your breast collar and your sandwich case. The saddle has a Mayhew-style breakaway fitting. It comes without fittings, but these are easily purchased through The Side Saddlery.
